For many celebrities, ranging from A-list movie stars to sports icons to political superstars, their main source of income is only tangentially related to their most prominent activity. Many celebrities actually amass their wealth by lending their names and likenesses to the endorsement of products, brands or services. Sometimes these celebrity endorsements make perfect sense, like when Michael Jordan’s name became synonymous with a basketball shoe or Danica Patrick shills for motor oil. Other times, the linking of a certain person with a certain endorsement leads us to wonder how much glue the ad executives behind the brand were sniffing while the contracts were signed (especially if it is an endorsement for glue).
